Leading crude transporter centralizes dispatching and improves accuracy with automated processes

Musket, a division of Love’s and Gemini Trucking, is a privately-held commodity supply, trading, and logistics company with offices in Houston, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Calgary. Since 2008, Musket has become a leader in U.S produced crude oil transportation and marketing, by trucks and rail.

Challenge

“Keeping an accurate, real-time track of tanker truck deliveries of thousands of barrels of valuable crude oil from production fields nationwide, to multiple Musket Terminal facilities is our challenge,” says Joshua Edge, General Manager of Crude Operations for Musket Corporation.

Goals

  • Provide a centralized dispatching component for a more efficient means of assigning loads to both their company-owned and contractor-owned fleets
  • Streamline the pick-up and off-load processes for both owned and contracted tanker trucks
  • Supply a more efficient system for managing run tickets, invoicing, and cash flow

Solution Implemented

“We chose TouchStar as our technology partner because of their significant Oil & Gas experience,” Edge explained. “The field-proven WellSite crude oil distribution software, electronic ticketing, and invoicing solution was specifically designed for crude and water hauling applications and offers us the significant advantages of real-time data access, and becoming a totally ‘paperless’ system.”

The recently implemented WellSite solution for Musket has been rolled out with excellent results to date and Musket management are pleased with the TouchStar progressive frame work for fleet monitoring and workforce automation.

Results

“We’ve already seen a significant reduction in data entry errors,” says Edge, “and we further expect lower fuel and general vehicle operating costs, a much faster scheduling and dispatch process, real-time access to our run tickets with the electronic ticket management, and enhanced customer service.
